Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique has been employed to detect and characterise a series of different radical species generated in polyvinyl acetate (PVAc), low density poliethylene (LDPE), ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and ethylene vinyl acetatate (EVA) via electron beam irradiation. These materials is the material of choice for the articulating surface in total joint replacements and the necessary sterilisation of PE is commonly carried out by high energy radiation. There are different radicals species assigned on the basis of their EPR spectra.

Abstract
Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique has been employed to detect and characterise a series of different radical species generated in polyvinyl acetate (PVAc), low density poliethylene (LDPE), ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and ethylene vinyl acetatate (EVA) via electron beam irradiation. These materials is the material of choice for the articulating surface in total joint replacements and the necessary sterilisation of PE is commonly carried out by high energy radiation. There are different radicals species assigned on the basis of their EPR spectra.File in questo prodotto:
