Conformal Gravity has been advanced as a candidate alternative to standard Einstein Gravity. It is a theory of gravitation which is invariant under conformal transformations of the metric. I studied the complete, exact exterior solution for a static, spherically symmetric source. The solution includes the Schwarzschild solution and contains an extra term which grows linearly with distance. The interest in conformal gravity is mainly driven by the fact that it may provide an explanation to observed galactic rotation curves without the need for dark matter. I focused also on the study of conserved quantities, in order to better understand the symmetry content of the theory, and the physical interpretation of the associated charges. This way one may shed light also on the nature of the linear term in the metric. The fact that the static solution is not asymptotically flat raises a conceptual issue in the definition of the deflection angle of the light coming from a source, which we are trying to address.

Abstract
The fact that the static solution is not asymptotically flat raises a conceptual issue in the definition of the deflection angle of the light coming from a source, which we are trying to address.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
