Il sabba delle streghe nella prima metà del Quattrocento. Dai trattati agli atti processuali

The phenomenon of witchcraft is as vast as complex and his definition has not been immediate: through the centuries many beliefs arose until the systematisation of a true crime. The purpose of this research is to draw the history of the model of the witches’ sabbath via the analysis of two treatises, Johannes Nider’s Formicarius and the Errores gazariorum by anonymous author, comparing them with some procedural deeds. These works were among the most determinant in order to lay the foundations for a stereotype that persisted for the entire period of the witch hunt.

Il fenomeno della stregoneria è vasto quanto complesso e la sua definizione non è stata immediata: attraverso i secoli sono sorte molte credenze, fino ad arrivare alla sistematizzazione di un reato vero e proprio. L’obiettivo della presente ricerca è quello di percorrere la storia del modulo del sabba stregonesco attraverso l’analisi di due trattati, il Formicarius di Johannes Nider e gli Errores gazariorum di autore anonimo, ponendoli a confronto con alcuni documenti processuali. Queste opere sono state tra le più determinanti al fine di porre le basi di uno stereotipo perdurato per tutto il periodo della caccia alle streghe.
