L'ultima raccolta, l'ultima vittoria. Commento a Mediterranee di Umberto Saba

The aim of this study is to examine one of the last collections published when Saba was still alive. The basic idea is that this colletion, called Mediterranee, represents the last completing section of the Canzoniere. This thesis is divided into two separate macro-sections in order to proceed with a deeper analysis of the collection. In the first part the various phases of Mediterranee's formation are analysed, taking into account other two publications of the same author, Scorciatoie e raccontini and Storia e cronistoria del Canzoniere, printed in the same period. Thereafter the attempt of demonstrating the starting point, that is the review of the reasons why it is possible to consider Mediterranee as the last integral part of the third volume of the Canzoniere, paying particular attention to the factors which allow to distinguish it from the subsequent collections, such as Epigrafe, Uccelli and Quasi un racconto. Always in the first part of this project there is the description of the geometric structure of the collection and the elements contained in order to provide the reader the necessary tools for a thorough understanding. In conclusion, the last paragraph explores the whole meaning of the collection and the value that it assumes in relation to the biographical situation of the author. The second part is specifically focused on the literary works: here the stylistic and thematic analysis of the texts takes place, together with the essential observations regarding the collocation, the value and the function within the architecture of Mediterranee.

Lo studio intende esaminare una delle ultime raccolte pubblicate in vita da Saba, Mediterranee, assumendo la prospettiva che essa rappresenti l'ultima sezione integrante il Canzoniere. L'elaborato è diviso in due macrosezioni distinte al fine di procedere a un'analisi quanto più approfondita della raccolta: nella prima parte si analizzano le varie fasi della formazione di Mediterranee, tenendo di conto della pubblicazione da parte dell'autore di altre due opere, Scorciatoie e raccontini e Storia e cronistoria del canzoniere, edite nei medesimi anni. Segue la dimostrazione del dato di partenza, ovvero la rassegna dei motivi per i quali è possibile considerare Mediterranee come ultima parte integrante del terzo volume del Canzoniere, ponendo una particolare attenzione ai fattori cooperano a distinguerla dalle raccolte successive, quali Epigrafe, Uccelli e Quasi un racconto. Sempre nella prima parte dell'elaborato si trova la descrizione della struttura geometrica della raccolta e delle figure contenute, al fine di fornire al lettore gli strumenti necessari per una comprensione approfondita. In conclusione, l'ultimo paragrafo approfondisce il significato totale della raccolta e quale valenza essa assuma in relazione alla situazione biografica dell'autore. La seconda parte si rivolge nello specifico ai componimenti: qui ha luogo l'analisi stilistica e tematica dei testi corredata dalle necessarie osservazioni riguardanti la collocazione, il valore e la funzione all'interno dell'architettura di Mediterranee.
