Abstract
I investigate if parrots can make economic decision using token exchange paradigm. The ability to inhibit the impulse to choose an immediate, but less preferred reward, instead of waiting for a delayed, but more desirable reward imply high form of self-control. Economic decision making is considered cognitively challenging. Recent studies showed that using tokens as reinforces rather than the reinforcer itself to test subject's ability to overcome their impulsivity can improve the subjects' performance. I tested two parrot specie: blue headed macaw (Primolius couloni) and African grey parrot (Psittacus erithacus) in a token exchange task.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
