This dissertation deals with the explanation of the corrosion phenomenon on an aluminum alloy, Al 1050, in bio-ethanol blended gasoline fuel.The analyses carried out were aimed at characterizing the alloy in question, studying its morphology and chemical composition. Studies have also been conducted on fuel and its interactions with the tank. The water content was analysed, which could lead to either corrosion or oxide layer formation; the content of acetic acid and the role of alcoholates.
