クトゥルフの呼び声 – Uno studio dell'influenza di H. P. Lovecraft nella cultura pop giapponese attraverso i manga di Miyazaki Yosuke.

We will firstly analyze the main characteristics of Lovecraft's works and the adaptation process that allowed the cosmic horrors from Rhode Island to get to Japan. We will also analyze the contemporary pop culture reaction to the concept of lovecraftian "monstrous" and how the themes that made Lovecraft famous were translated from an orientalistic point of view, with particular emphasis on mangas and animes influenced by the new type of horror that was created in Providence at the beginning of the '900. Finally, the analysis and translation of Miyazaki's mangas', "The Call of Cthulhu" and "The Dunwich mystery", will provide a practical example.

Saranno analizzate le caratteristiche della poetica lovecraftiana e il processo di adattamento per cui gli orrori cosmici del Rhode Island siano approdati in Giappone. Si analizzerà inoltre la reazione della cultura pop contemporanea al concetto di mostruoso lovecraftiano e la traslazione orientalista delle tematiche che hanno reso famoso Lovecraft, con particolare interesse su manga e anime influenzati dal nuovo orrore nato a Providence a inizio '900. Infine, l'analisi dei manga di Miyazaki, "Il richiamo di Cthulhu" e "Il mistero di Dunwich" e la loro relativa traduzione fungeranno da esempio pratico.
