Deconstructing Intersectional TV. Critical Pedagogy in Queer Education and Popular Culture

This thesis explores the connections between pedagogy and popular culture, with special reference to American TV series. It investigates the pedagogical role shared by TV series, as they propose their own fictional version of reality, through characters, episodes and complex structures. More specifically, this thesis discusses various pedagogical aspects and downsides of TV series in the process that leads to the formation of gender identities. Television narratives are used to develop educative practices through the lenses of queer theories and intersectionality, to shed new light on the contemporary pop cultural scenario.​

La tesi esplora le connessioni fra la pedagogia e la cultura pop, in particolare le serie tv americane. Il punto di partenza è il ruolo pedagogico delle serie nel riproporre una loro versione narrativa della realtà, con personaggi, episodi e strutture complesse. Nello specifico, la tesi studia il ruolo ed il rischio pedagogico delle serie tv nella formazione delle identità di genere, proponendole come punto di partenza per un uso educativo delle teorie queer e dell'intersezionalità applicate al contesto pop culturale contemporaneo.​
