Indagine sulla variazione diatopica nel comune di Sorbo San Basile.

This study aims to research and analyze the diatopic variation in the municipality of Sorbo San Basile (CZ) and its districts (Melitello, Contrada Nero, and Cutura), focusing on the phonetic differences between the various dialects. It is divided into four chapters: the first presents the geohistorical context of the Sorbo territory; the second lists the characteristic features of the extreme southern area, with particular attention to Calabria's position in dialectal classifications; the third describes the phonetic features typical of Calabrian varieties; the fourth and final chapter is dedicated to illustrating and commenting on the linguistic data collected during the investigation in the four survey points, analyzed from a diatopic perspective through the comparison of the traits identified in each locality. The idea for this project stems from the desire to preserve the dialect as a collective heritage that is deeply rooted in a past shared by the entire speaking community and must be cultivated and protected, as well as from the wish to provide a document that describes its peculiar aspects with method and scientific awareness.

Questo studio ha lo scopo di ricercare e analizzare la variazione diatopica nel comune di Sorbo San Basile (CZ) e nelle sue contrade (Melitello, Contrada Nero e Cutura), ponendo il focus sulle differenze fonetiche tra le varie parlate. Si sviluppa in quattro capitoli: nel primo viene presentato il contesto geostorico del territorio sorbese; nel secondo vengono elencati i tratti caratterizzanti dell’area meridionale estrema, con particolare attenzione alla posizione della Calabria nelle classificazioni dialettali; nel terzo vengono descritti i tratti fonetici tipici delle varietà calabresi; il quarto e ultimo capitolo è dedicato all’illustrazione e al commento dei dati linguistici raccolti durante l’indagine nei quattro punti di inchiesta, analizzati in prospettiva diatopica attraverso il confronto tra i tratti individuati in ogni località. L’idea di questo progetto nasce dalla volontà di preservare il dialetto come un patrimonio collettivo che affonda le sue radici in un passato che accomuna l’intera comunità di parlanti e che deve essere coltivato e protetto, ma anche dal desiderio di fornire un documento che ne descriva gli aspetti peculiari con metodo e consapevolezza scientifica.
