The aim of this paper is to examine - with a particular focus on the role of innovation ¿ funding, innovation and human capital as determinants of firm survival in high innovative environment in the first place. In the second place, via a competing risk analysis, is to show how these determinants affect, not only the likelihood of survival, but also the mode of exit chosen by the firm (closure, merger or acquisition, initial public offer). The analysis is conducted using the whole population of Israeli firms in different high-tech sectors that joined the Israeli Venture Capital database during the period 1984-2014.
