The thesis focuses on Javier Tomeo (1932-2013), a Spanish writer and playwright, and on the translation of his Bestiario (1988), a collection of short stories still unpublished in Italy. The first part contextualises Tomeo in contemporary Spain, of which it traces the political, economic and cultural evolution from Francoism to democracy. Afterwards, it concentrates on the author and his works, starting from an outline of his biography to move forward to his style and themes. The second part places his Bestiario in the homonymous literary genre, of which it describes the main traits and the lines of development in the course of the classical period, the medieval period and the contemporary period. The third part faces the translation challenge posed by this text, in particular with regard to the semantic and thematic fields of science and literature, the differences between the Spanish language and the Italian language and the terms and the expressions situated at the crossroad between language and culture, such as multi-word lexical units and proper nouns.

Abstract
The third part faces the translation challenge posed by this text, in particular with regard to the semantic and thematic fields of science and literature, the differences between the Spanish language and the Italian language and the terms and the expressions situated at the crossroad between language and culture, such as multi-word lexical units and proper nouns.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
