La non-cura degli anziani nelle RSA: dalla trascuratezza al maltrattamento. Analisi del fenomeno e riflessioni del ruolo che ricopre l'educatore

At the basis of this study is the analysis of the theme of maltreatment (in nursing homes) with the various meanings that can be attributed to it. Attention is focused on institutions, more precisely on Italian nursing homes and their organization. The thesis is divided into five chapters: the first chapter provides an introduction to the phenomenon of maltreatment together with some articles with data on related studies. The second chapter analyzes the institutions, their history and how they have transformed over time. We focus on the often distracted welfare system. In the third chapter the term ill-treatment is analyzed trying to better understand its deeper meaning which is different from the one understood on a daily basis. In the fourth chapter, space is given to a deeper and more personal reflection on the role that the educator plays, focusing on what can be the ways to prevent the phenomenon of abuse. In the second part of the chapter, questionnaires are submitted to the staff of some nursing homes in Turin.The fifth and final chapter will present the results of some interviews with patients of some treatment cases on the meaning of the word well-being.

Alla base di questo studio vi è l’analisi del tema del maltrattamento (nelle RSA) con i vari significati che ad esso possono essere attribuiti. Si pone l’attenzione sulle istituzioni, più precisamente sulle case di cura italiane e sulla loro organizzazione. La tesi è articolata in cinque capitoli: nel primo capitolo viene fornita un’introduzione del fenomeno del maltrattamento unitamente ad alcuni articoli con dati su studi annessi. Nel secondo capitolo vengono analizzate le istituzioni, la loro storia e di come si sono trasformate nel tempo. Ci si sofferma sul sistema welfare spesso distratto. Nel terzo capitolo viene analizzato il termine maltrattamento cercando di comprenderne meglio il significato più profondo che è diverso da quello inteso quotidianamente. Nel quarto capitolo viene dato spazio a una riflessione più profonda e personale sul ruolo che l’educatore svolge, soffermandosi su quali possono essere i modi per prevenire il fenomeno del maltrattamento. Nella seconda parte del capitolo vengono sottoposti dei questionari al personale di alcune case di cura di Torino. Nel quinto e ultimo capitolo saranno presentati i risultati di alcune interviste ai pazienti di alcune case di cura sul significato della parola benessere.
