Revisione della letteratura nella gestione logopedica del paziente con tumore nel distretto testa-collo sottoposto a radioterapia

The focus placed on the head and neck oncology patient appears to be a topic that involves in a practical and pragmatic way many health care professionals in both hospital and out-of-hospital settings. The clinical curative and rehabilitative pathway of these patients still appears to be extremely long, complex and not easy to manage. Radiation therapy is one of the often indispensable care pathways for these types of patients but, even now, can bring complications that are not always easy to manage. My paper draws attention to the consequences and complications that radiotherapy can bring either directly or long after its application. My paper builds on a careful review of the literature related to evaluative, treatment, and quality-of-life aspects in individuals undergoing head and neck surgery and associated radiotherapy. It also pays attention to what should be "best practice" in the management of these subjects by bringing reflections and attention to what in clinical reality is not always performed although strongly indicated. It is noted that this review of the literature was mainly directed on what are the phoniatric-logopedic areas.

L’attenzione posta sul paziente oncologico testa-collo appare un argomento che coinvolge in modo pratico e pragmatico molte figure sanitarie sia in ambito ospedaliero che extraospedaliero. Il percorso clinico curativo e riabilitativo di questi pazienti appare ancora essere estremamente lungo, complesso e non di facile gestione. La radioterapia è uno dei percorsi di cura spesso imprescindibili per questi tipi di pazienti ma, ancora adesso, può portare complicanze non sempre di facile gestione. Il mio elaborato pone l’attenzione sulle conseguenze e complicanze che la radioterapia può portare in modo diretto o a distanza di tempo dalla sua applicazione. Il mio elaborato si sviluppa su un’attenta revisione della letteratura correlata agli aspetti valutativi, di trattamento e della qualità di vita nei soggetti sottoposti a chirurgia testa-collo e radioterapia associata. Inoltre pone attenzione anche su ciò che dovrebbe essere il “best practice” nella gestione di questi soggetti portando riflessioni e attenzioni su ciò che nella realtà clinica non sempre viene eseguito seppur fortemente indicato. Si rileva che tale revisione della letteratura è stata indirizzata principalmente su quelli che sono gli ambiti foniatrico-logopedici.
