Climate change is one of the most compelling challenges the world is facing today. The impacts are visible everywhere, cities have become both the source of pollution, of GHG emissions and the most vulnerable to its impacts. For years, in responding to climate change, the main actors have been national governments and international organizations, however, their focus on economic growth, globalization and resource exploitation has not delivered successful solutions. Today, cities are reclaiming back their position as powerful urban centers by developing networks to meet the challenges of climate change, and by showing they are prepared in achieving both development growth and environmental sustainability. While the networks differ in their missions and goals, together they challenge the traditional concept of governance, claiming new modalities of sustainable governance are needed to tackle climate change. The focus on the Turin Municipality, a re-invented intermediate city, aims at exploring the implications of climate change within the city and at its responses to mitigation and adaptation. Turin is emerging as an active, attentive city, eager to address climate change on an urban level and ready to explore its future scenarios.

Abstract
Turin is emerging as an active, attentive city, eager to address climate change on an urban level and ready to explore its future scenarios.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
