Garanzia della proporzionalita’ degli interventi e delle cure in ottemperanza alla normativa sulle disposizioni anticipate di trattamento

CONTEXT: Advance treatment orders represent the expression of will regarding health treatments that every person of age and capable of understanding and wanting can express in anticipation of a possible future inability to self-determination, and after having acquired adequate medical information on the consequences of one's choices. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY: The objective of this thesis is to describe and analyze, through the review of the literature, the aspects related to advance treatment orders, the ethical principles underlying the proportionality of care and the concept of quality of life. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: The bibliographic search involved the use of free terms and differently combined MeSH terms and was conducted in databases: PubMed, SICP, textbooks. RESULTS: The initial search led to the identification of 135 articles. Overall only 5 were included in the review as they were relevant due to title and abstract, the purpose of the research and the selection criteria set and the availability of full text. CONCLUSION: This review shows how it is appropriate to underline the importance of respecting the patient's wishes and wishes regarding end-of-life care and how this is central to care. Family members play a fundamental role in the decisions to be made, especially when the patient loses the ability to understand and want, therefore the duty of doctors and nurses is to act as a guide to help them understand the importance of implementing treatments proportionate to the clinical situation affecting the patient.

OBIETTIVI DELLO STUDIO: L’obiettivo di questa tesi è quello di descrivere ed analizzare, attraverso la revisione della letteratura, gli aspetti correlati alle disposizioni anticipate di trattamento, ai principi etici che sottendono alla proporzionalità delle cure ed al concetto di qualità di vita. METODOLOGIA DELLA RICERCA: La ricerca bibliografica ha previsto l’utilizzo di termini liberi e di termini MeSH diversamente combinati ed è stata condotta nelle banche dati: PubMed, Cochrane, libri di testo.
