Grande meraviglia di Viola Ardone: una storia umana tra realtà e immaginazione

My thesis starts from the reading and in-depth study of Grande meraviglia, published by Viola Ardone in 2023. I called it "a human story between reality and imagination" because the vicissitudes of Elba, the protagonist of the novel, are set in a precise period of Italian history, the years in which the walls of the asylums were torn down thanks to the Basaglia Law. There is therefore a close link with reality, but at the same time a good dose of imagination, the one that allows Elba to face everyday life as a recluse with courage and irony. After a brief introduction, the thesis is developed in three chapters. In the first there is a biography of the author, followed by a reflection on the vast dimension of today's publishing and the importance that the Internet has today for the literary world. The second chapter focuses on the plot of the text, on the levels of the narrative and finally on the linguistic and stylistic aspects. The third and last, on the other hand, pays more attention to the psychology of the characters, with a look also at the other two novels that are part of Ardone's twentieth-century trilogy.

La mia tesi parte dalle lettura e dallo studio approfondito di Grande meraviglia, pubblicato da Viola Ardone nel 2023. L'ho definita "una storia umana tra realtà e immaginazione" perché le vicissitudini di Elba, la protagonista del romanzo, sono collocate in un periodo preciso della storia italiana, gli anni in cui le mura dei manicomi vengono abbattute grazie alla Legge Basaglia. C'è quindi un legame stretto con il reale, ma allo stesso tempo una buona dose di fantasia, quella che consente a Elba di affrontare con coraggio e ironia la quotidianità da reclusa. Dopo una breve introduzione, la tesi si sviluppa in tre capitoli. Nel primo è presente una biografia dell'autrice, seguita da una riflessione sulla vasta dimensione dell'editoria di oggi e sull'importanza che riveste Internet oggi nei confronti del mondo letterario. Il secondo capitolo si concentra sulla trama del testo, sui piani della narrazione e infine sugli aspetti linguistici e stilistici. Il terzo e ultimo invece presta maggiormente attenzione alla psicologia dei personaggi, con uno sguardo anche agli altri due romanzi facenti parte della trilogia del Novecento della Ardone.
