Which elements are useful to improve human happiness is a challenging question. Researchers had tried to understand the variables that have to be increased to gain in well-being. One of the results achieved is that be more aware in own actions can help other elements in increasing more happiness. The resulting problem is how consciousness can be measured. In this document, I hypothesized, thanks to the literature, that financial literacy can be a proper evaluation of people's consciousness. In fact it is a useful skill for people, who want to enumerate their own wealth and understand the well-being bought with own money. My analysis is supported by the evidence that come from past literature, and from recent papers that endorse the hypothesis of a possible relation between these two variables. In the work itself, I studied the variable financial literacy using the Lusardi's method and used this value as an independent variable in the regression of happy. The analysis has been done on the data from the Survey on Household Income and Wealth 2010 by Bank of Italy, which gives some good information on Italians. In particular the dataset is useful because it gives answers upon happiness and financial knowledge. The results of my work show that indeed a positive correlation between financial literacy and happiness exists; and this evidence holds for both genders. Being more financial literate is associated with a higher level (perceived) well-being.

Abstract
Being more financial literate is associated with a higher level (perceived) well-being.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
