Sessualità e psiche: le disfunzioni sessuali nel giovane con disagio psichico. Il ruolo dell'infermiere

Introduction: Sexual activity is one of the most important aspects of human life and it can be influenced by various factors (physical, mental, relational, etc.). In patients with mental health disadvantaged, this aspect is frequently impaired by the presence of sexual dysfunctions, which often have a psychological origin or appear to be a side effect of the drugs taken by the person. For this reason, due to their high impact on the quality of life, they can have negative consequences throughout the process of taking care of the person. When dealing with or seeing a person as a whole, nurses, in collaboration with other health professionals, must know how to identify these dysfunctions and their causes as soon as possible, to be able to best implement the care strategies in an early stage and as a team. Objective: investigate the state of sexual health in a sample of young people suffering from mental health disadvantaged and the causes attributable to any sexual dysfunctions. Materials and Methods: the QSF (Quality of Sexual Function) questionnaire was proposed in the venues of the Youth Project meetings and the procedure was explained to the ones accessing it. Results: the results show the main sexual dysfunctions in which there is, already at the start, a compromised general well-being, dictated by the uncomfortable situation which leads to the uprising of further problems. Among these, there are frequent problems of arousal and desire that translate in the disorder of hypoactive sexual desire, lubrication, lack of orgasm and painful symptoms in the genitals. Discussions: the results demonstrated the negative impact of sexual dysfunctions on the quality of people life with mental health problems and the importance of further studies on the topic. This is also confirmed by numerous studies found in the literature dealing with this subject. Key word: sexuality, sexual dysfunction, mental health disadvantaged, pharmacotherapy.

Introduzione: L'attività sessuale è uno degli aspetti più importanti della vita umana e può essere influenzato da diversi fattori (fisici, mentali, relazionali ecc.). Nei pazienti con disagio psichico tale aspetto è frequentemente alterato dalla presenza di disfunzioni sessuali, le quali spesso hanno un’origine psicologica o sono un effetto collaterale dei farmaci assunti dalla persona e, a causa del loro alto impatto sulla qualità di vita, possono avere conseguenze negative su tutto il percorso di presa in cura della persona. Gli infermieri, in collaborazione con gli altri professionisti sanitari, occupandosi della persona nella sua interezza, devono saper identificare precocemente queste disfunzioni e le relative cause, così da poter attuare precocemente e in equipe le migliori strategie assistenziali. Obiettivo: indagare lo stato di salute sessuale in un campione di giovani affetti da disagio psichico e le cause imputabili a eventuali disfunzioni sessuali. Materiali e Metodi: è stato proposto il questionario QSF (Quality of Sexual Function) nelle sedi degli incontri del Progetto Giovani ed è stata spiegata la procedura a chi vi accedeva. Risultati: i risultati mostrano le principali disfunzioni sessuali in cui di base è presente un benessere generale compromesso dettato dalla situazione di disagio che comporta l’insorgenza di ulteriori problematiche. Tra queste risultano frequenti problemi di eccitazione e desiderio che si traducono nel disturbo del desiderio sessuale ipoattivo, lubrificazione, mancato orgasmo e sintomatologie dolorose a livello genitale. Discussioni: i risultati hanno dimostrato l’impatto negativo delle disfunzioni sessuali sulla qualità della vita delle persone con disagio psichico e l’importanza di approfondire l’argomento. Questo lo confermano altresì da numerosi studi reperiti in letteratura trattanti il tema. Parole chiave: sessualità, disfunzioni sessuali, disagio psichico, farmacoterapia
