The dissertation aims to propose an Italian translation of Austin Clarke's short story ¿Leaving this island place¿, included in the collection ¿The faber book of contemporary Canadian short stories¿ (Michael Ondaatje, 1990). The first chapter is my translation, whereas the second chapter is the analysis and comment of the translation strategies, with a particular focus on: Caribbean English, idioms and collocations, metaphors and similes, cultural references, swearwords and informal speech, and the title.
