With my thesis I want to verify the differences between the use of automatic fitting and the use of fitting through "in vivo tests". I decided to take care of this topic, because at the agency where I do my training, this methodology is used more and more often. In vivo measurements are objective assessments of the shape of the external auditory canal that are made through a sonde that measures the sound pressure level near the tympanic membrane. Mine is an experimental research because I will choose the patients to whom I will give the "tests in vivo". I chose to include 15 patients with specific inclusion criteria in my research. In addition, patients will submit a questionnaire of 10 questions, to which they will have to answer just before the use of in vivo tests and about a month from the administration of the same. Each subject will answer the questions with a score from 0 to 10, where 0 is the lowest possible perception, while 10 corresponds to the best perception. In this way I will notice the subjective difference in perception between the two different settings. For the time being I have collected the data of 15 patients, and from the answers we see how after one month from the administration, in general, all the patients have noticed an improvement of their perception, more or less marked, above all regarding the comfort of listen. In conclusion I can say that the adjustments made through the in vivo tests are more effective, and it is for this reason that, in the agency where I do my training, will be used more often.
