Blockchain: bolla o rivoluzione?

The path that we will deal with this dissertation starts from a historical overview of the blockchain phenomenon and highlights the cardinal characteristics of this extraordinary technology. In a second moment, we analyze the speculative bubbles of dot.com and Bitcoin, to bring out the aspects of continuity between the two and the specific elements of each bubble; we will bring back the famous Gartner Hype Cycle, which will help us in dealing with each new technology and will help us to understand if it can maintain expectations. Finally, we examine the relationships that the cryptocurrencies are having with the real world, for having the opportunity to concretely see some applications of the new and innovative universe of digital currency.

Il percorso che affronteremo nella presente trattazione prenderà le mosse da un inquadramento storico del fenomeno della blockchain e metterà in luce le caratteristiche cardinali di questa straordinaria tecnologia. In un secondo momento, analizzeremo le bolle speculative delle dot.com e del Bitcoin, per far emergere gli aspetti di continuità tra le due e gli elementi specifici di ogni bolla; riporteremo il famoso Gartner Hype Cycle, che potrà aiutarci nell'affrontare ogni nuova tecnologia e ci agevolerà nel comprendere se essa può mantenere le aspettative. Infine, prenderemo in esame le relazioni che le criptovalute stanno avendo con il mondo reale, per aver modo di constatare concretamente alcune applicazioni del nuovo e innovativo universo della moneta digitale.
