Georges Perec: la ricerca identitaria tra La Disparition e W ou le souvenir d'enfance

This thesis offers an analysis concerning one of the main authors of the French Neo Avant-gardes: Georges Perec (1926-1982), member of the Oulipo, a group of writers and mathematicians founded in 1960. Perec is often associated to the idea of writing as a way of survival, because of the strong autobiographical and personal impact of his work: this thesis aims to find through which ways Georges Perec tries to seek his personal identity. Besides analysing his biography to underline the main stages, there is going to be an analysis of Perec's poetry, linking it to Oulipo's main themes and ideas. Then two Perec's masterpieces are going to be introduced and analysed: La Disparition and W ou le souvenir d'enfance. These two novels are first going to be explained individually, underlining the most important points and the autobiographical links; in the last paragraph, they are going to be compared to find the common themes. The last part of the thesis is going to include the conclusions, that will point out the strong importance of the verbal contraintes used by Perec, because they became the way through which the language has the possibility to express itself in the best way possible, revealing what consciously the writing, and so the writer, might want to hide.

Questa dissertazione propone un approfondimento riguardante uno dei principali autori delle Neoavanguardie francesi: Georges Perec (1936-1982), membro dell'Oulipo, gruppo di scrittori e matematici fondato nel 1960. Perec viene spesso associato all'idea di scrittura come mezzo di salvezza, anche grazie alla forte impronta autobiografica e personale delle sue opere: la dissertazione infatti si pone l'obiettivo di scoprire attraverso quali mezzi Georges Perec porti avanti una profonda ricerca identitaria. Oltre ad analizzare la biografia dell'autore al fine di sottolinearne le tappe principali, in primis vi è un'analisi della sua poetica con un collegamento ai principi portati avanti dall'Oulipo, di cui anch'egli si fa portavoce. Successivamente l'approfondimento verterà su due opere specifiche di Georges Perec: W ou le souvenir d'enfance e La Disparition. Le due opere saranno analizzate inizialmente in modo separato e specifico, sottolineandone i temi principali e i rimandi autobiografici; nell'ultimo capitolo esse saranno messe a confronto per delinearne i punti comuni. L'ultima parte della dissertazione verterà sulle conclusioni tratte dall'approfondimento svolto, che metteranno in luce la forte importanza delle contraintes verbali utilizzate da Perec, in quanto esse diventano effettivamente il mezzo attraverso cui il linguaggio acquisisce la possibilità di esprimersi al meglio, svelando anche ciò che a livello conscio la scrittura, e di conseguenza lo scrittore, potrebbe voler celare.
