Geografia e narrazioni emozionali. Nuove frontiere per la didattica a partire dalla montagna.

The research emphasizes the importance of considering human emotions in landscape-related learning processes, highlighting the crucial role of emotional geography as an interdisciplinary connective that integrates elements of physical, human and cultural geography with psychology and other social sciences. Dematteis summarizes this approach by proposing a geography that draws inspiration from feelings and emotions, aspiring to explore the unknown and the wondrous. It was probably the oldest form of geography, which led the Greeks to believe that the first geographer was Homer, and which is extensively present in the Histories of Herodotus, considered by many to be the founder of human geography. In this perspective, narrative takes on a fundamental role and, to paraphrase Bruner, has foundational value. Narratives are not limited to the description of what is or to the reconstruction of facts and events, but are an active part in the structuring of human experience, similar to the creative power of the divine word. Bruner's insistence on the importance of storytelling has made it possible to bring back to the center of pedagogical reflection a practice that underlies the social reproduction mechanisms of the species. Consistent with the disciplinary, pedagogical and didactic foundations outlined in the first theoretical part of the thesis, I conducted my teaching project through various types and nuances of narratives. I tried to construct the imaginary of the mountains and in particular of the Alps, with the purpose of deconstructing stereotypes related to important processes of transformations that occurred with the development of the industrial phase, with the spread of mass tourism .

La ricerca sottolinea l'importanza di considerare le emozioni umane nei processi di apprendimento legati al paesaggio, evidenziando il ruolo cruciale della geografia emozionale come connettivo interdisciplinare che integra elementi della geografia fisica, umana e culturale con la psicologia e altre scienze sociali. Dematteis riassume questo approccio proponendo una geografia che trae ispirazione dai sentimenti e dalle emozioni, aspirando a esplorare l'ignoto e il meraviglioso, essendo probabilmente la forma più antica di geografia, quella che portava i greci a credere che il primo geografo fosse stato Omero, e che è ampiamente presente nelle Storie di Erodoto, considerato da molti il fondatore della geografia umana. In questa prospettiva, la narrazione assume un ruolo fondamentale e, parafrasando Bruner, ha valore fondativo. I racconti non si limitano alla descrizione di ciò che è o alla ricostruzione di fatti e avvenimenti, ma sono parte attiva nella strutturazione dell'esperienza umana, simile al potere creativo della parola divina. L'insistenza di Bruner sull'importanza della narrazione ha permesso di riportare al centro della riflessione pedagogica una pratica che è alla base dei meccanismi di riproduzione sociale della specie. In coerenza con le basi disciplinari, pedagogiche e didattiche tratteggiate nella prima parte teorica della tesi, ho condotto il mio progetto didattico attraverso varie tipologie e sfumature di narrazioni per provare a costruire l’immaginario della montagna e nel caso specifico delle Alpi, nella dimensione della decostruzione di stereotipi legati a importanti processi di trasformazione avvenuti con lo sviluppo della fase industriale e con la diffusione del turismo di massa.
