I moti nel Regno di Sardegna nel 1821

The objective of the research concerns the identification of the causes of the relation in 1821, with particular reference to Piemonte. The fundamental premise is therefore a brief analysis on the cultural context of the time, namely the French Revolution, the subsequent occupation and annexation of Piemonte to Napoleonic France and the subsequent restoration of 1814. The analysis of these aspects plays a central role due to the mutation institutional and juridical structure: we are witnessing the decline of the ancien regime and the birth of the liberal state. Considering these premises, the examined aspects inherent to the motions are analyzed. The first point consisting of a student episode in Turin at the beginning of 1821, even if the real beginning will be those of March 1821. Finally, to occupy a central role in this research is the episode of the taking of the Citadel of Alexandria and to the role played there by captain Isidoro Palma. Thanks to the numerous documents still present in the Turin State Archives, it was possible to faithfully reconstruct the story, as well as the peculiar solutions in the trial context and the application of the sentence. In addition to the in-depth examination of the story of Captain Palma, reference will also be made to the general situation, especially as regards the procedural implications, the results, the convictions and the application of these.

L'obiettivo della ricerca concerne l'individuazione delle cause scatenanti i moti nel 1821, con particolare riferimento al Piemonte. Premessa fondamentale risulta dunque essere una breve analisi sul contesto culturale dell'epoca, ossia la rivoluzione francese, la susseguente occupazione ed annessione del Piemonte alla Francia napoleonica e la successiva restaurazione del 1814. L'analisi di questi aspetti riveste un ruolo centrale dovuto alla mutazione dell’assetto istituzionale e giuridico: si assiste al tramonto dell'ancien regime ed alla nascita dello Stato liberale. Considerate queste premesse, si analizzeranno gli aspetti inerenti ai moti. La prima scintilla, consiste in un episodio studentesco a Torino agli inizio del 1821, anche se i moti veri e propri saranno quelli di marzo 1821. Ma ad occupare un ruolo centrale in questa ricerca è l'episodio della presa della Cittadella di Alessandria e il ruolo ivi rivestito dal capitano Isidoro Palma. Grazie ai numerosi documenti presenti ancora presso l'Archivio di Stato di Torino, è stata possibile una fedele ricostruzione della vicenda, nonché delle peculiari soluzioni in ambito processuale e l'applicazione della sentenza. Oltre all'esame approfondito sulla vicenda del capitano Palma, si farà riferimento anche alla situazione generale, soprattutto per quanto concerne i risvolti processuali, gli esiti, le condanne e l'applicazione di queste.
