Uno sguardo interdisciplinare sul mondo esterno: l'intreccio tra arte e letteratura in Celati

The thesis is developed around the analysis of the connection and mutual influence between literature and art, particularly in the case of the friendship between Gianni Celati, author, translator and essayist, and Luigi Ghirri, an Italian photographer very relevant to our national artistic culture. Both are influential for and influenced by the period they work in, the second half of the twentieth century, with different characteristics linked to each decade. They begin to collaborate during the eighties and a strong friendship bond is immediately born. The most interesting elements concern the visions they have of the world they live in and the ways they express them. During the period they work independently, each one expresses his vision of the outside world in his own way, with his own means and knowledge: Celati through literature, Ghirri through photography. Later, working in synergy to achieve the same objectives, they give rise to more complex works, whose visions are more complete and more readable in depth, at different levels. Both very interesting are the visual writing Celati uses to tells us his reality vision and, on the other hand, the talking photographs that Ghirri presents us. The result of an almost casual collaboration gives rise to an intertwining, a mutual and indissoluble influence not only between the two, but mostly between art and literature, that makes possible an interdisciplinary look at the world. Observing it from different perspectives and putting himself on the line every time, without prejudice, opens the way to countless philosophical thoughts and reflections, that each one shows through his own favorite forms of expression. This is what makes a comparison between the observer and the outside world possible.

La tesi si sviluppa intorno all’analisi dell’intreccio e influenza reciproca tra letteratura ed arte, in particolare nel caso dell’amicizia tra Gianni Celati, autore, traduttore e saggista, e Luigi Ghirri, fotografo italiano molto rilevante per la cultura artistica nazionale. Entrambi sono influenti e influenzati dal periodo in cui lavorano, ovvero la seconda metà del Novecento, con le caratteristiche legate ad ogni decennio. Iniziano a collaborare negli anni Ottanta e nasce un forte legame di amicizia. Gli elementi di maggiore interesse riguardano le visioni che loro hanno del mondo in cui vivono e le modalità attraverso cui le esprimono. Nel periodo in cui lavorano autonomamente, ciascuno esprime a proprio modo, con i propri mezzi e le proprie conoscenze la loro visione del mondo esterno, Celati tramite la letteratura e Ghirri attraverso la fotografia. In un secondo momento, lavorando in sinergia per raggiungere gli stessi obiettivi, hanno dato origine ad opere maggiormente complesse, dalle visioni più complete e leggibili in profondità, su diversi livelli. Interessanti la scrittura visiva con cui Celati ci racconta la sua visione della realtà, e dall’altra parte le fotografie parlanti che ci presenta Ghirri. Il risultato di una collaborazione quasi casuale ha dato vita ad un intreccio, un’influenza reciproca e indissolubile non solo tra i due, ma soprattutto tra l’arte e la letteratura. Questo rende possibile uno sguardo interdisciplinare sul mondo. Osservarlo con prospettive differenti, mettendosi in gioco ogni volta, senza pregiudizi, apre la strada a innumerevoli pensieri e riflessioni filosofiche; ciascuno li manifesta attraverso le proprie forme di espressione predilette. Questo permette che avvenga un confronto tra l’osservatore e il mondo esterno.
