Gli intellettuali tedeschi in esilio. Analisi del romanzo Der Vulkan di Klaus Mann

The dissertation analyzes the theme of the exile of German intellectuals during the period of the German National Socialist dictatorship from the point of view of Klaus Mann, son of Thomas Mann. Klaus Mann wrote the novel Der Vulkan to expose the tragic situation of the lives of the exiles to the world. By telling the lives of the protagonists, the novel allows us to understand how the exiles were linked by a common destiny despite their different lives. The dissertation also tries to verify the realism of the novel by analyzing the legal and psychological problems that the exiles had to face in real life.

La dissertazione analizza il tema dell’esilio degli intellettuali tedeschi durante il periodo della dittatura nazionalsocialista tedesca dal punto di vista di Klaus Mann, figlio di Thomas Mann. Klaus Mann scrisse il romanzo Der Vulkan per esporre al mondo la tragica situazione delle vite degli esiliati. Raccontando le vite dei protagonisti il romanzo permette di capire come gli esiliati furono legati da un destino comune nonostante le vite differenti. La dissertazione prova inoltre a verificare il realismo del romanzo attraverso l’analisi dei problemi legali e psicologici che gli esiliati dovettero affrontare nella vita reale.
