This dissertation examines the text of the Artificial Intelligence Act(AI Act), a Commission proposal to harmonize standards on AI and to monitor its lifecycle inside and outside of the market. The framework provisions establish an AI risk classification including four options ranging from soft law to mandatory standards, linking to the development and use of certain AI applications. To understand practical outcomes arising from the proposed text, the dissertation will take in consideration three AI currently in development at the “Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Città della Salute e della Scienza” in Turin. The AI analysed have medical-diagnostic purposes and therefore they are assessed both under the AI Act and the Medical Device Regulation, in order to acknowledge obligations that are going to be imposed and how they will change current forms of conformity assessments.

Abstract
This dissertation examines the text of the Artificial Intelligence Act(AI Act), a Commission proposal to harmonize standards on AI and to monitor its lifecycle inside and outside of the market. The framework provisions establish an AI risk classification including four options ranging from soft law to mandatory standards, linking to the development and use of certain AI applications. To understand practical outcomes arising from the proposed text, the dissertation will take in consideration three AI currently in development at the “Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Città della Salute e della Scienza” in Turin. The AI analysed have medical-diagnostic purposes and therefore they are assessed both under the AI Act and the Medical Device Regulation, in order to acknowledge obligations that are going to be imposed and how they will change current forms of conformity assessments.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
