Un'analisi delle risposte di politica economica alla Grande Depressione americana negli anni '30: il New Deal di Roosevelt

The study shows the economic maneuvers implemented by Franklin D. Roosevelt in order to remedy the sad worldwide phenomenon of the Great Depression that struck the United States in the 1930s. The New Deal probably did not favor a full recovery, but for Americans it was a period characterized by strong confidence and optimism in which they thought that politics had finally been able to give effective answers to the economic crisis and the difficulties of citizens. It is no coincidence that Roosevelt was the only U.S. president who was re-elected four times, and with large majorities of votes. The New Deal was not, however, without criticism, especially from economists who pointed out its structural inconsistency.

Lo studio mostra le manovre economiche attuate da Franklin D. Roosevelt per ovviare al triste fenomeno mondiale della Grande Depressione che colpì anche gli Stati Uniti negli anni '30. Il New Deal probabilmente non favorì una piena ripresa ma per gli americani fu un periodo caratterizzato da forte fiducia e ottimismo e in cui si pensava che finalmente la politica avesse saputo dare risposte efficaci alla crisi economica e alle difficoltà dei cittadini. Non a caso Roosevelt fu l'unico presidente statunitense che fu rieletto per ben 4 volte, e con ampie maggioranze di voti. Il New Deal non fu comunque esente da critiche, soprattutto da parte di economisti che ne evidenziarono l’incoerenza strutturale.
