Sustainable accounting is a subject that in recent years is very much considered by both governments and companies of all sizes. This is because there is increased awareness of the problems that human activities cause on the environment. In an initial analysis, the documents, regulations, and various standards currently in use after years of study are considered. The most important part of the thesis concerns the analysis of the sustainability of the company Zerbinati.This is a family business operating in the food sector. In particular, it produces vegetables in bags and ready-to-eat dishes based on vegetables. After the introduction of the company and its characteristics, the thesis will be based on the analysis of the concept of sustainability and the actions that Zerbinati currently practices to support the environment. Then, the study will focus on stakeholders, the certifications that the company has obtained and the operation of the production process in all its phases, with a focus on environmental and social indicators that are considered. The last part of the study concerns the national and international events in which Zerbinati participates and how the company acts in support of the society. The aim of this thesis is to analyze a small-medium-sized company, so as to see its relationship with sustainable development and consider both the environmental and social dimensions. I choose to analyse Zerbinati because, given where I live, Monferrato, I was particularly interested in knowing the sustainable behaviours of a local company, long established in the market.

Abstract
