The aim of this paper is to analyze the activities composing the value chain of the meat industry in order to understand which is the activity that generates most of the industry’s profits. Through several different analyses it has been possible to identify the main value chain activities performed in the meat industry. Furthermore, it has been useful to conduct a more specific analysis on a small pool of companies belonging to the Italian meat sector in order to give a reasonable answer to which is the activity creating the largest share of profits in the meat industry.
