Abstract

In recent years the world has become hyperconnected, companies had an epochal turning point in the way they do business. Through the lump of telecommunications and new technologies the context has evolved, now the network is the real focus. The use of the internet made it possible to distribute and advertise products and services and to grow communication between people. In this case, the contribution of e-commerce has been at the base of this important revolution. Electronic commerce designs to purchase, sell, and deliver, where possible, goods, services, and information through a worldwide network of telematic communication. In this thesis, the analysis focuses on the impact of micrologistics on e-commerce, particularly on why choosing this approach can be favorable for a small and medium business. The study examines the company Logistic Design S.r.l and its branch DaPersonalizzare.it, an Italian company founded in 2014 by a young entrepreneur. The case study is at its origin developed through a Q&A with Luca Lionetti, founder, and CEO and his chartered accountant to better understand how, the use of the micrologistics can allow managers to keep everything under control without having to waste time, space and resources and, meanwhile, coordinate in real-time customer needs and marketing. The point of discussion will be based on the choice of entrusting to third parties not only what concerns simple deliveries, but the management of many other operational issues such as good collection, storage and inventory but also management of returns and the update reports. The small company will be analyzed focusing on the financial analysis and on the entrepreneurial context to catch what is the actual competitive advantage of a small medium company which chooses to outsource.
