«Semu tutti devoti tutti » analisi sociolinguistica sul dialetto nel linguaggio dei catanesi

The aim of this work is to offer a greater knowledge of the use and functions of my dialect, the Catania dialect. I tried to understand what place the dialect occupies in the linguistic repertoire of the citizens of Catania and if it continues to be a strong identity value to be preserved. The survey began in March 2020 and ended in August of the same year, and was carried out through the administration of a questionnaire drawn up by me and the collection of both written and oral material. I got 373 responses. It emerged that the dialect is mostly used in informal situations, with family and friends; I also understood that the dialect is not a simple linguistic choice but its use aims to send more direct and expressive messages.

Il mio lavoro mira ad offrire una maggiore conoscenza dell'uso e delle funzioni del mio dialetto, il dialetto catanese. Ho cercato di capire che posto occupa il dialetto nel repertorio linguistico dei cittadini di Catania e se esso continua ad essere un forte valore identitario da preservare. L'indagine è iniziata nel marzo 2020 per concludersi nell'agosto dello stesso anno, ed è stata svolta tramite la somministrazione di un questionario da me redatto e la raccolta di materiale sia scritto che orale. Ho ottenuto 373 risposte. Ne è emerso che il dialetto viene maggiormente usato in situazioni informali, con famiglia e amici; ho inoltre compreso, che il dialetto non è una semplice scelta linguistica ma il suo utilizzo mira a mandare messaggi più diretti ed espressivi.
