Il photovoice e il lavoro educativo: proposte progettuali e pratiche educative nel lavoro di strada

This theoretical dissertation analyses the topic of photovoice in relation to detached street-based youth work and the role of the social worker in it. By studying deeper the application of the tool in the educational and social field, the aim is to make an educational proposal using photovoice in detached street-based youth work. Along the path of research and analysis, various experiences were selected, which can be found in literature and closer to the socio-pedagogical side. Starting from the emancipatory approaches, which find an interesting meeting point with the narrative ones, the use of image has been very important as it is a very powerful mean and the focus of the digitalized era. Therefore, getting to the heart of the methodology, three photovoice’s experiences have been analysed and studied in schools and other three in the territorial area. A large space was given to a project proposal, realised through photovoice, by the Associazione Gruppo Abele Onlus, which has been reshaped in itinere due to the health emergency. The bibliographical research was realized by the aid of books and articles, a small percentage of which were also in English, on photovoice and emancipatory and narrative approaches - such as narrative medicine and medical humanities. The sitography consists essentially in materials selected during the meetings of the photovoice project by Gruppo Abele, used in the implementation phase of the project and in the research and analysis phase. The focus of the attention was on the objectives and methodologies put in place by social workers in the educational project and practices. It turned out, along the path, how this tool can be significantly efficient to reach some of the educational goals in the proximity work: the photovoice allows to grow the educational relationship with people met in an informal, spontaneous and creative way, establishing a relationship of trust that allows participants and researchers to cooperate for a greater community protagonism. This tool also allows social workers, who make conscious use of it, to promote problem solving and the collaboration of the users with the community in question and the political and social forces that are part of it. To gain technical-photographic skills related to photovoice and in comparison to other projects implemented, in order to draw lessons from the context in which it operates, it could be useful for social workers to have a specific training on the methodology, known so far only by some professionals and only in theoretical key thanks to their studies; a good command of the methodology goes, in any case, hand in hand with a deep knowledge of the territory in which one wants to do research. La presente tesi compilativa analizza il tema del photovoice in relazione all’educativa di strada e al ruolo che in esso riveste l'educatore professionale. Approfondendo l’applicazione dello strumento in ambito educativo e sociale, si vuole avanzare una proposta educativa che utilizzi il photovoice nel lavoro di strada. Lungo il percorso di ricerca e analisi sono state selezionate varie esperienze, rintracciabili in letteratura, più vicine al versante socio-pedagogico. Partendo dagli approcci emancipativi, i quali trovano un interessante punto d’incontro con quelli narrativi, si è riflettuto sull’uso dell’immagine, mezzo potentissimo e fulcro dell’era digitalizzata. Dunque, entrando nel vivo della metodologia, sono state analizzate tre esperienze di photovoice realizzate in ambito scolastico e altrettante in quello territoriale. Ampio spazio è stato dato a una proposta progettuale, realizzata tramite il photovoice, dall’Associazione Gruppo Abele Onlus, rimodulata in itinere a causa dell’emergenza sanitaria. La ricerca bibliografica si è concretizzata nella presa visione di libri e articoli, dei quali una piccola percentuale anche in lingua inglese, sul photovoice e sugli approcci emancipativi e narrativi – come la medicina narrativa e le medical humanities. La sitografia si compone invece dei materiali selezionati durante gli incontri del progetto di photovoice a opera del Gruppo Abele, utilizzati sia nella fase attuativa del progetto che in quella di ricerca e analisi. È stata successivamente posta l’attenzione su obiettivi e metodologie messe in campo dagli operatori di strada nella progettazione e nelle pratiche educative. È così emerso, lungo il percorso, quanto questo strumento possa essere significativamente efficace per raggiungere alcuni obiettivi educativi nel lavoro di prossimità: il photovoice consente infatti di coltivare la relazione educativa con persone incontrate in maniera informale, spontanea e creativa, instaurando un rapporto di fiducia che consenta, a partecipanti e ricercatori, di cooperare per un maggiore protagonismo comunitario. Tale strumento inoltre permette agli educatori professionali, che ne fanno un uso consapevole, di promuovere il problem solving e la collaborazione dell’utenza con la comunità in questione e le forze politico-sociali che ne fanno parte. Per l’acquisizione delle competenze tecnico-fotografiche relative al photovoice e il confronto con altri progetti attuati, così da trarne insegnamento per il contesto nel quale si opera, potrebbe risultare utile per gli operatori di strada un percorso formativo specifico sulla metodologia, conosciuta a oggi soltanto da alcuni professionisti ed esclusivamente in chiave teorica grazie al proprio percorso di studi; una buona padronanza della metodologia va, in ogni caso, di pari passo con una radicata conoscenza del territorio nel quale si vuole fare ricerca.
