IL DIBATTITO ALLE ORIGINI DELLA TEORIA DELL’IMPRESA

This paper aims to dig into the origins of the debate on business theories, finding similarities and clashing elements. This path will contrast the theory on the growth of firms (The Resource Theory of the fi rm) of the economist Edith Penrose (1914-1996) and the theories on transaction costs and property rights of Ronald Coase (1910-2013) and Oliver Williamson (1932-2020), who at least in part will meet in the theories elaborated by Alfred Chandler.

Tale elaborato si propone l’obiettivo di andare a scavare alle origini del dibattito sulle teorie dell’impresa, trovandone similitudini ed elementi di scontro. Questo percorso porterà in contrapposizione la teoria sulla crescita delle imprese (The Resource Theory of the fi rm) dell’economista Edith Penrose (1914-1996) e le teorie sui costi di transazione e dei diritti di proprietà di Ronald Coase (1910-2013) e Oliver Williamson (1932-2020), che almeno in parte si andranno ad incontrare nelle teorie eleborate da Alfred Chandler.
