Futuri Ortottisti al tempo del Covid-19

The thesis aims to analyze the pandemic period by discussing the impact, which this has had both on the Orthoptics and Assistant Degree Course in Ophthalmology, starting from the academic year 2019/2020, and on the professional practice of the Orthoptists, engaged in the health services of the territory, during the health emergency. In particular, we will focus on key aspects, such as training, and professional, for university students of the Degree Course, whose continuation required extraordinary management, due to the limitations for Covid-19, with the search for new didactic ways. The reorganization of an Orthoptics service, for professionals included in the National Health Service, who in addition to the need to continue to carry out daily tasks, such as visits, rehabilitation treatments and ophthalmological assistance, had to fill new tasks and new skills due to pandemic emergency. The negative effects related to the spread of the virus will also be investigated, concerning above all the psyche, responsible for having influenced the academic and social performance of the student, the quantity and quality of work of the Orthoptist, already practicing the profession, also at the expense of the healthcare worker-patient relationship. Concluding then with the analysis and evaluation of the skills, communicative and otherwise, developed in the period under examination, and how these can favor the development of both the Orthoptic Degree Course and the area that will see protagonists such as the Orthoptists of tomorrow.

La Tesi si prefigge lo scopo di analizzare il periodo pandemico discutendo l’incidenza, che questo ha avuto sia sul Corso di Laurea di Ortottica e Assistente in Oftalmologia, a partire dall’anno accademico 2019/2020, sia sulla stessa pratica professionale degli Ortottisti, impegnati nei servizi sanitari del territorio, durante l’emergenza sanitaria. In particolare, ci si soffermerà su aspetti cardine, quali la formazione, accademica e professionale, per gli studenti del Corso di Laurea, il cui proseguo ha necessitato una gestione straordinaria, a causa delle restrizioni per il Covid-19, con la sperimentazione di nuove vie didattiche. La riorganizzazione di un servizio di Ortottica, per i professionisti inseriti nel Servizio Sanitario Nazionale, che oltre alla necessità di continuare a svolgere le mansioni quotidiane, quali visite, trattamenti riabilitativi e assistenza oftalmologica, hanno dovuto ricoprire nuove mansioni e sviluppare nuove competenze a causa dell’emergenza pandemica. Verranno poi approfonditi anche gli effetti negativi correlati alla diffusione del virus, riguardanti soprattutto la psiche, responsabili di aver influito sulle performance accademiche e sociali dello studente, sulla quantità e qualità di lavoro dell’Ortottista, già praticante la professione, andando a discapito anche del rapporto operatore sanitario-paziente. Concludendo poi con l’analisi e la valutazione delle competenze, comunicative e non, sviluppate nel periodo in esame, e come queste possono favorire lo sviluppo sia del Corso di laurea di Ortottica sia nell’ambito professionale che vedrà come protagonisti gli Ortottisti di domani.
