La società a costo marginale zero

This work is based on the work of the famous economist Jeremy Rifkin, entitled "The zero marginal cost society", in which the author presents and analyzes a revolution in being, broke with the development of the Internet of Things (IDC) and the emergence of Collaborative Commons, which will lead, according to his observations, the eclipse of capitalism. Before presenting the author's thought, we will focus, in the first chapter, a brief statement of the marginal cost and profit maximization. The second chapter is totally dedicated to the analysis of the main concepts that characterize the work of Rifkin: the eclipse of capitalism, the Internet of Things, the Third Industrial Revolution and the birth of a new economic paradigm. Finally, the last chapter, is focused on how much of what Rifkin theorizes is already in place: the "sharing economy", to reflect whether the new paradigm advocated by the author is feasible or not.

Questo lavoro si basa sull'opera del celebre economista Jeremy Rifkin, intitolata ¿La società a costo marginale zero¿, in cui l'autore espone ed analizza una rivoluzione secondo lui in corso, scoppiata con lo sviluppo dell'Internet delle Cose (IDC) e l'affermarsi del Commons collaborativo, la quale condurrà, secondo le sue osservazioni all'eclissi del capitalismo. Prima di esporre il pensiero dell'autore, ci soffermeremo, nel primo capitolo, su una breve esposizione del costo marginale e la massimizzazione del profitto. Il secondo capitolo sarà, invece, dedicato totalmente all'analisi dei principali concetti che caratterizzano l'opera di Rifkin: l'eclissi del capitalismo da lui teorizzata, l'Internet delle Cose, la Terza rivoluzione industriale e la nascita di un nuovo paradigma economico. Infine, nell'ultimo capitolo, ci dedicheremo a quanto di ciò che teorizza Rifkin è già in atto, ovvero la ¿sharing economy¿, per riflettere se il nuovo paradigma auspicato dall'autore sia realizzabile, oppure no.
