Il tempio di Edfu: un compendio di letteratura religiosa

The topic of this dissertation is the analysis of the Temple of Horus at Edfu. The Sanctuary, built in the Ptolemaic Period, could be important for us not only to understand the characters of a Ptolemaic Temple, but also to know something more about the religious literature of the period between the III and the I century B.C. and the relationship between the epigraphy and the architecture, that is to say the relationship between the texts and the decoration and the texts and their collocation in the building. To do that, it could be necessary to analyse the scenes and the textual evidences to verify the occurence in particolar places of the complex. It has done all to understand if the decoration (in her figurative and textual aspects) is the realization of an original project elaborated in 237 B.C. and completated after two hundred years, in the 57 B.C.

Argomento di questo scritto è l'analisi del tempio di Horus ad Edfu. Il santuario di età tolemaica (di cui tutt'ora restano imponenti testimonianze) risulta assai interessante al fine, non solo di comprendere i caratteri di un edificio templare egizio del periodo lagide, ma anche per raccogliere informazioni circa la letteratura religiosa tra il III sec. a.C. ed il I sec. a.C. ed il rapporto tra l'epigrafia e l'architettura, cioè tra i testi e la loro collocazione rispetto alla decorazione ed all'intero luogo sacro. Si sono, infatti, presi in esame l'apparato decorativo e quello testuale nel suo complesso, presentando schematicamente le principali composizioni, allo scopo di verificarne l'occorrenza in particolari ambienti. Dopo di ciò, sono state fatte alcune considerazioni, con l'intento di comprendere se la realizzazione del tempio di Horus ad Edfu sia stata la messa in opera di un progetto originale elaborato poco prima del 237 a.C. e portato a pieno compimento dopo quasi duecento anni, nel 57 a.C.
