A disruptive technology: the Impact of Artificial Intelligence implementation on Corporate activity coordination.

The present thesis has the aim to explore the impact of Artificial Intelligence implementation in the coordination of activities in business operations, focusing on the actual and potential applications of this tool. This study is based on the analysis of the reports on AI implementation of the principal global consulting companies (Big 4). The main objective of this thesis is to analyse the impact of AI Technologies in the key areas of Corporate Coordination, highlighting the benefits and challenges of using such tools in streamlining corporate coordination activities. The structure of the work is organized in a way to provide clear presentation of the topic. The first chapter presents an overview of the actual use of Artificial Intelligence technologies in business operations with its key aspects and an introduction of the relevance of activities coordination in corporate environments. The second chapter is dedicated to an analysis of the current use of AI in coordination activities, with a presentation of the main tools used and examples of application of such instruments. The work will focus on the role of automation and digital assistant systems in activities such as scheduling and resource management. The third chapter will delve into a study of the impact of Artificial Intelligence tools on the main aspects of Corporate Coordination. First will be analysed the effects on enhancing Team Communication and collaboration, then the help and the influence of AI in decision-making processes and how it improves operational efficiency, finally its uses in Project Management and workflow automation. In the fourth chapter will be presented a balance between the main advantages and disadvantages of implementing Artificial Intelligence solutions in a firm, highlighting the principal benefits of the implementation and observing the issues derived from the use of AI tools. The fifth chapter will show a series of examples of AI implementations from the data and the experience of the world’s most important consulting firms (Big 4), with 3 particular attention to the outcomes and issues detected by those companies in their consulting activities, demonstrating the impact of AI Technology in the present and near future. The goal is of offering throughout this thesis a valuable representation of the actual use and state of the art of the application of Artificial Intelligence Technology in the field of Corporate Coordination, highlighting the benefits and reflecting on the issues related to such disruptive tool.
