City Life: dalla sua storia al concorso di idee per il nuovo simbolo della Milano contemporanea

The paper analyses the events that led to the redevelopment of the former Milan fair district. This area has always been multipurpose and therefore needed a project that would allow its multifunctionality. The dissertation also investigates the history of the fair and its relocation in another area, the choice of the project for the park surrounding the buildings and finally the description of the architectural structure of the three towers and CityWave (the last skyscraper still under construction). The two residential complexes, designed mainly by Zaha Hadid and Daniel Libeskind, and the shopping mall located inside the new redeveloped green area are then described. This project gave birth to the City Life district.

L’elaborato analizza le vicende che hanno portato alla riqualificazione dell’ex quartiere fieristico di Milano. Quest'area è sempre stata polivalente e quindi aveva bisogno di un progetto che le consentisse la sua multifunzionalità. L’elaborato indaga la storia della fiera e il suo trasferimento, la scelta del progetto per il parco che circonda gli edifici e infine la descrizione della struttura architettonica delle tre torri e CityWave (l'ultimo grattacielo ancora in costruzione). Vengono poi descritti i due complessi residenziali, progettati principalmente da Zaha Hadid e Daniel Libeskind, e la galleria commerciale posti all’interno della nuova area verde riqualificata. Questo progetto ha dato vita al quartiere di City Life.
