Decostruire la discriminazione intersezionale verso le persone rom tramite pratiche educative di empowerment

The focus of my argument is the analysis of anthropological, social, educational and political methods and practices towards the roma people. The text enlightens several ethnographic approaches, studies and research about the Romani world, especially on the discriminatory narration and systemic racism that is typical of the spaces and contexts that they have been through. Throughout some witnesses coming from three semi-structured interviews conducted with two social workers and an activist, a huge social and bureaucratic void has emerged: from the lack of identification as an ethnic and linguistic minority caused by the Italian government to the awful housing conditions where they are poured out and to the institutional racism that permeates them day by day. The purpose of my postulate is to make the knowledge available that so far scientists and activists have been processing, to build new collective methods through a lens less and less colonising and dominating. The idea is, therefore, sustained by the testimonies received, that we should begin to deconstruct stereotypical beliefs to allow the Romani people to become self-empowered. This can only happen if the society, named gage, in other words non-rom, is the first to really listen attentively.

La mia tesi si concentra sull’analisi dei metodi e delle pratiche antropologiche, sociali, educative e politiche a cui le comunità rom sono state sottoposte. Il testo riporta vari approcci, studi e ricerche etnografiche sul mondo romaní mettendo in luce la narrazione discriminatoria e il razzismo sistemico che caratterizza i contesti che hanno attraversato. Attraverso le testimonianze derivanti da tre interviste semi-strutturate condotte a due operatorə e un attivista, è emerso un grande vuoto legislativo e sociale: a partire dal mancato riconoscimento come minoranza etnico-linguistica da parte dello stato italiano alle condizioni abitative in cui sono costrette, e al razzismo istituzionale che subiscono giorno per giorno. L’obiettivo della tesi è quello di mettere a disposizione le conoscenze che fino ad oggi, studiosə e attivistə hanno elaborato, per far sì che si possano costruire nuovi modi collettivi di collaborare attraverso uno sguardo sempre meno colonizzante e dominante. L’idea della tesi è quindi supportata dalle testimonianze ricevute, ovvero che bisogna partire da una decostruzione di convinzioni stereotipiche per permettere alle persone rom di autodeterminarsi. Questo può avvenire solo se è la società cosiddetta gagia, ovvero non rom, la prima a mettersi realmente in ascolto.
