The analysis is divided into four chapters: the first explores Miyazaki's career and the recurring themes in his works; the second illustrates the semiotic methodology used; the third applies the Greimasian model to the analysis of the film; the fourth summarises the results and evaluates the advantages and limitations of the approach adopted. The study highlights how the film addresses deep themes such as personal transformation and pacifism, representing war as a destructive force and the castle as a symbol of fragmented identity.

L’elaborato analizza “Il castello errante di Howl” di Hayao Miyazaki attraverso il percorso generativo del senso di Greimas, con l’obiettivo di esaminare la costruzione narrativa e simbolica del film. L’analisi si articola in quattro capitoli: il primo esplora la carriera di Miyazaki e i temi ricorrenti nelle sue opere; il secondo illustra la metodologia semiotica utilizzata; il terzo applica il modello greimasiano all’analisi del film; il quarto sintetizza i risultati e valuta i vantaggi e limiti dell’approccio adottato.
