La torre di Babele: il tema della diversificazione delle lingue in Dante

The story of the Tower of Babel fascinates Dante and appears several times in different ways throughout his works, from the Convivio to De Vulgari Eloquentia and the Commedia. It is an important event because it divided humanity, making it impossible for people to communicate in the same language, as many new languages emerged after the Tower was built. Dante wonders which language was the first, which came after, what the true story of the Tower is, and what its consequences were. This thesis discusses the topic in relation to Dante's writings, the philosophers who influenced him, and the Book of Genesis, which first tells the story of this event.

ivi è il racconto della Torre di Babele che affascina Dante ed è ripreso più volte e in modi diversi nel corso delle opere dantesche: dal Convivio, al De Vulgari eloquentia, fino alla Commedia. E' un'impresa cruciale perché ha diviso l'umanità che non può più comunicare tra sé con la stessa lingua poiché vi sono molti idiomi a seguito della costruzione della Torre. Dante si chiede quale sia la lingua primaria, quale la secondaria, quale sia la versione giusta su questa costruzione e quali le conseguenze. La tesi ne parla in riferimento agli scritti danteschi, ai filosofi a cui si è ispirato Dante stesso e al libro della Genesi che per primo dà testimonianza del misfatto.
