Leopold Kompert - Roßhaar. Analisi e traduzione

This Bachelor thesis analyzes the story 'Roßhaar' by Leopold Kompert, a 19th-century Bohemian Jewish writer. The aim of the thesis is to offer a complete translation and an in-depth analysis of the work. After outlining the author's life and the historical context, the work focuses on the analysis of Roßhaar, its plot and main themes. The third chapter consists of the complete translation of the work with a commentary on the translation strategies adopted. The analysis shows that Kompert adopts a realistic and nostalgic style when talking about the life of the ghetto dwellers and the difficulty in accepting the advent of modernity. The language, clear and colloquial, is enriched by numerous terms relating to Jewish culture, which constituted a stimulating challenge in the translation process. This work aims at contributing to the rediscovery of the author and to the valorization of his literary production.

Questa tesi triennale analizza il racconto 'Roßhaar' di Leopold Kompert, scrittore ebreo boemo del XIX secolo. L'obiettivo della tesi è offrire la traduzione completa e un'analisi approfondita dell'opera. Dopo aver delineato la vita dell'autore e il contesto storico, il lavoro si focalizza sull'analisi di Roßhaar, della trama e delle tematiche principali. Il terzo capitolo si compone della traduzione integrale dell'opera con un commento sulle strategie traduttive adottate. L'analisi mostra che Kompert adotta uno stile realistico e nostalgico parlando della vita degli uomini del ghetto e della difficoltà ad accettare l'avvento della modernità. Il linguaggio, chiaro e colloquiale, è arricchito da numerosi termini inerenti alla cultura ebraica, che hanno costituito una sfida stimolante nel processo traduttivo. Questo lavoro si propone di contribuire alla riscoperta dell'autore e alla valorizzazione della sua produzione letteraria.
