Lo sguardo femminista di Luisa Carnés in Natacha (1930) e Tea rooms (1934)

The thesis project focuses on the figure of Luisa Carnés, Spanish writer and journalist belonging to the Generation of '27, and on her most important works, with the aim of highlighting her literary and social contribution. The author Luisa Carnés stands out within the Generation as one of the most significant voices in the Spanish cultural landscape, bearing witness through her writings to the conditions of working women and the subaltern classes in 20th century Spain. The project is divided into three chapters: the first explores the author's life, her political commitment and the historical context in which she operated. The second chapter analyses the novel Natacha (1930), focusing on social criticism and the representation of the condition of women and workers. The third chapter is dedicated to Tea Rooms. Mujeres Obreras (1934), a work that denounces gender inequalities and women's difficult access to labour rights, despite the reforms of the Second Spanish Republic. Through this analysis, the thesis highlights how Carnés used literature as an instrument of social denunciation, anticipating feminist themes and class struggle. Her writing, characterised by incisive language and immersive narration, stands as an important testimony of her time.

Il progetto di tesi si concentra sulla figura di Luisa Carnés, scrittrice e giornalista spagnola appartenente alla Generazione del '27, e sulle sue opere più importanti, con l'obiettivo di valorizzarne il contributo letterario e sociale. L’autrice Luisa Carnés si distingue all’interno della Generazione come una delle voci più significative nel panorama culturale spagnolo, testimoniando attraverso i suoi scritti le condizioni delle donne lavoratrici e delle classi subalterne nella Spagna del XX secolo. Il progetto è articolato in tre capitoli: il primo esplora la vita dell'autrice, il suo impegno politico e il contesto storico in cui operò. Il secondo capitolo analizza il romanzo Natacha (1930), soffermandosi sulla critica sociale e sulla rappresentazione della condizione femminile e operaia. Il terzo capitolo è dedicato a Tea Rooms. Mujeres Obreras (1934), un'opera che denuncia le disuguaglianze di genere e il difficile accesso delle donne ai diritti lavorativi, nonostante le riforme della Seconda Repubblica spagnola. Attraverso questa analisi, la tesi evidenzia come Carnés abbia utilizzato la letteratura come strumento di denuncia sociale, anticipando tematiche femministe e di lotta di classe. La sua scrittura, caratterizzata da un linguaggio incisivo e una narrazione immersiva, si configura come un’importante testimonianza del suo tempo.
