Aim of this work was the production and the characterization of amorphous or partially amorphous silver-based alloys with content of Ag varying from 80 and 55 wt%. In particular it was considered the Ag-Cu-Zr ternary system. Six different alloys, belonging to this system, and their ribbon were synthesized respectively by arc furnace and by melt spinning technique. Three composition, containing 80 wt% Ag, have been chosen with the aim of applications in jewelry field, while the remaining three to further explore the Ag-Cu-Zr ternary system. All the samples were characterized by different techniques, i.e. X-ray diffraction, optical and scanning electron microscopy, differential thermal analysis and hardness tests.
