Un tema attuale nella realtà medievale: il Roman de Silence, tra determinazione di genere e condizionamenti linguistici

The study presents a literary analysis of specific portions of the Roman de Silence by Heldris de Cornuälle regarding the theme of gender identity. Written around the XIII century the medieval poem echoes contemporary social matters: language and its limitations influence the way humankind relates to one another and to the world; several contradictions throughout the poem show the instability and incoherence of the binary system upon which the society is based on.

Lo studio presenta l'analisi letteraria di specifici passaggi del Roman de Silence di Heldris de Cornuälle in prospettiva al tema dell'identità di genere. Il poema medievale, scritto nel XIII secolo circa, echeggia questioni sociali contemporanee: i condizionamenti linguistici e le lacune di vocabolario influenzano il modo in cui l'essere umano si relaziona con gli altri e con il mondo; molteplici contraddizioni nel testo fanno emergere l'instabilità e l'insufficienza del sistema binario su cui è organizzata la società.
