Il Gabinetto delle Stampe del Castello di Masino nel secondo Settecento. Schedatura e analisi

The paper focuses on the analysis of eighteenth-century prints kept in the Gabinetto Nuovo of the Masino Castle, with the aim of providing a complete listing and historical contextualisation. In the first chapter, the history of the castle is analysed, with references to the Valperga family, in particular to Carlo Francesco II and Tommaso. The interior and exterior spaces of the building are also analysed in relation to the changes that have taken place over the centuries, with particular attention to the 18th century renovations. In the second chapter, a detailed description of the Prints Cabinet is given based on documents and a specially executed photographic campaign. The focus of the paper is the study of individual prints, with particular attention to their history and location. The third and final chapter consists of the cataloguing of engravings, among which works of English and French provenance derived from earlier paintings, either singly or within collections.

L’elaborato si concentra sull’analisi delle stampe settecentesche conservate nel Gabinetto Nuovo del Castello di Masino, con l’obiettivo di restituirne una schedatura completa e una contestualizzazione storica. Nel primo capitolo viene analizzata la storia del Castello, con riferimenti alla famiglia Valperga, in particolare a Carlo Francesco II e l’abate Tommaso. Sono anche presi in analisi gli spazi interni ed esterni dell’edificio in relazione ai cambiamenti avvenuti nel corso dei secoli, con particolare attenzione soprattutto ai rifacimenti settecenteschi. Nel secondo capitolo viene fatta una descrizione dettagliata del Gabinetto delle Stampe basata sui documenti e su una campagna fotografica eseguita appositamente. Il fulcro dell’elaborato consiste nello studio delle singole stampe, con particolare attenzione alla loro storia e collocazione. Il terzo e ultimo capitolo è costituito dalla schedatura delle incisioni, tra le quali si trovano opere di provenienza inglese e francese derivanti da dipinti precedenti, singoli o collocati all’interno di collezioni.
