Abu Ghraib e la gestione della violenza in uno scenario di insorgenza moderna

This paper aims to review and analyze the reasons behind why the insurgency broke out in Iraq after Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, and the subsequent aftermath. The Abu Ghraib scandal is also highlighted and explained, using official sources such as reports from senior members of the U.S. Armed Forces and the White House, and photos taken by soldiers accused of torture. Finally, the text focuses on how such an event could have happened and what were the legal consequences.

L'elaborato in questione si propone di rivedere e analizzare i motivi dietro i quali è scoppita l'insurrezione in Iraq dopo l'operazione Iraqi Freedom del 2003, e le successive conseguenze. Viene evidenziato e spiegato inoltre lo scandalo di Abu Ghraib, utilizzando fonti ufficiali come i report provenienti da alti esponenti delle Forze Armate Statunitensi e della Casa Bianca, e le foto scattate dai soldati accusati di tortura. Il testo si concentra infine su come sia possibile che un avvenimento del genere sia potuto succedere e quali sono state le conseguenze giuridiche.
