This thesis critically examines the concept of the smart city, assessing its social, economic, and political implications. By comparing theoretical models and case studies, with a focus on Turin, it highlights the contradictions between the utopian ideal and its practical implementation. The aim is to determine whether and how the smart city can address contemporary urban challenges.

Questa tesi analizza criticamente il concetto di smart city, valutando le sue implicazioni sociali, economiche e politiche. Attraverso un confronto tra modelli teorici e casi di studio, con particolare attenzione a Torino, si evidenziano le contraddizioni tra l’ideale utopico e la realtà della sua implementazione. L'obiettivo è comprendere se e come la smart city possa rispondere alle sfide urbane contemporanee.
