Erich Fromm, lo psicoanalista: la teoria sociopsicologica e l'approccio umanistico alla psicoterapia

This paper is about the clinical approach of Erich Fromm, sociologist and psychoanalyst. The aim is to show the interesting insights of the author, who has developed an original clinical method which in some ways anticipated certain assumptions of what was later called the relational turn in psychoanalysis. The idea of the individual as a social being, in constant relationship with the world and with others, and as a human being, naturally oriented to understanding one’s own peers, led the author to a clinical approach characterized by direct, sincere and empathetic relationship between therapist and patient. At times some of Fromm’s considerations have been excessively polarized on the social side. For this reason, the thesis presents a constant comparison between the author’s thinking and that of some modern interpreters of his theory. In recent years there has been a growing interest in the work of Fromm, which has led to a rich production of material inherent to his psychoanalytic thinking. In this dissertation, born of the same interest, we try to draw important lessons from the innumerable works of the psychoanalyst.

Questo lavoro tratta dell'impostazione clinica di Erich Fromm, sociologo e psicoanalista. L'obiettivo è quello di mostrare le interessanti intuizioni dell'autore, il quale ha sviluppato un originale metodo clinico, che in un certo senso ha anticipato certi presupposti di quella che sarebbe stata la cosiddetta svolta relazionale in psicoanalisi. La visione dell'individuo come essere sociale, in costante rapporto col mondo e con gli altri, e come essere umano, naturalmente orientato alla comprensione dei propri simili, hanno condotto l'autore ad un approccio clinico contraddistinto dal rapporto diretto, sincero ed empatico tra terapeuta e paziente. Alle volte, alcune delle considerazioni di Fromm sono state eccessivamente polarizzate sul versante sociale. Per questo motivo, nella tesi è presente un costante confronto tra il pensiero dell’autore e quello di alcuni moderni interpreti della sua teoria. Negli ultimi anni si è sviluppato un crescente interesse verso l’opera di Fromm, che ha portato ad una ricca produzione di materiale inerente al suo pensiero psicoanalitico. In questa dissertazione, nata dal medesimo interesse, si prova a trarre importanti lezioni dagli innumerevoli lavori dello psicoanalista.
